As well as lengthening the life of a blind, it will also keep costs down as it is 100% autonomous – all it needs is daylight to recharge.

The solar panel itself is incredibly discreet – the small panel simply sits on the inner pane of the window behind the fabric of the blind. It works equally well in places that receive bright sunlight as those that don’t, so whether your room faces north, south, east or west your blind will operate efficiently.

Motorised roller blinds are one of our most popular electric blind products, but Somfy’s Wirefree range can cater to a number of shading needs. Our team recently visited the R&T Show in Stuttgart to find new and innovative shading solutions to share with our customers, and one that caught their eye was the new Brustor B-200 Outdoor Living. This new product from Brustor allows you to create the perfect outdoor living space to relax whilst also being protected from the elements.

We have installed many of Brustor’s awnings over the years for our customers, but the new B-200 Outdoor Living differs from previous designs, with an aluminium roof that has 160^o rotating louvres. This gives the option of having a waterproof shelter as well as complete control over sun and shade throughout the day. And when it rains the water is removed by invisible rain gutters. You also have the option of having electric ZIP screens installed on each side to protect against the wind. This is all powered by a Somfy motor.

As you can see from the images, the Outdoor Living is available as a stand-alone product, or can be held up with 2 posts leaning against a wall. It is perfect for homeowners who want to enhance their outdoor space, for example a garden, balcony, swimming pool or jacuzzi. However it’s also a great solution for commercial properties such as restaurants, pubs and hotels.

Roof lanterns can transform a room by allowing vast amounts of natural light to flood through, and are often positioned to define a particular area such as a kitchen island or dining room table.

Depending on where you choose to install your new rooflight you may find that sometimes you need to provide shade. At Premier Blinds we have researched a number of solutions, as due to the nature of rooflights traditional roof blinds are not always suitable. For example large blinds will often sag due to the weight of the fabric, and tension pleated blinds require wires through the middle which can detract from the elegant look of your roof lantern.

Our preferred solution are Shy Zip electric blinds. These blinds are designed with an innovative zip system within hidden slim side channels. This system gives complete blackout and ensures that the blind is kept taut. These blinds also have the added benefit of saving saving energy as the air is trapped between the blind and window and therefore insulates. The Premier Blinds team recently completed an awning project at the Rivermill Apartments in Vauxhall, London. Our boys braved the elements to install eight cassette square bar awnings from Weinor. The motorised awnings were finished with a powder coating to match the period brown tiled buildings. Each awning on the penthouses were fitted with a vibration sensor, so that the awnings retract automatically in strong wind. This is a great safety feature, espeically for large awnings like these which measured 5 metres in width with a 2.1 metre projection.

These switches are in fact just like remote control handsets, but instead fixed onto the walls so no wiring is required making them easy to install. It’s also a great solution if you’re prone to misplacing your remote controls! 

The switches are incredibly simple to operate – by lightly touching the up or down buttons or the ‘my’ button which will stop at your favourite pre-set position.

Plantation shutters are fast becoming the “must have” item for homeowners, and with

their clean elegant lines that suit interiors modern or traditional, it’s no surprise. Take a look at these photographs of a recent job we completed in Leatherhead, Surrey.

Shutters work perfectly with bay windows, especially if you are overlooked as they give complete control over light and privacy. All of our products are made to measure – these S.Craft shutters where made in silk white, with a 64mm slat and an offset tilt rod. The tier-on-tier style means that the bottom shutters can be opened or closed independently from the top.

Today our fitters compleated a job at Effingham and Leatherhead RFC in Surrey. The photos display an awning made from waterproof vinyl fabric. The awning fully retracts when not in use, and as you can see the club took advantage of our sign writing option on the front of their valance. As the building was not suitable to attach the awning directly, goalposts were put in place to displace the weight.
